Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia noted that the principles of the center-right political parties that promote democracy, the free market economy and freedom underpin the system that would liberate the productive capacities of the countries. citizens and improve their well-being.
He noted that these values historically demonstrated how to free people from the chains of poverty and deprivation and bring prosperity to the population and called for the inclusion of populations in all development processes.
He therefore urged members of the African Democratic Union (DUA) and the International Democratic Union (IDU), who believed in center-right ideology to support each other for success in their respective countries and for the good of their people.
Vice President Bawumia made the call when the executive and the members of the African Democratic Union, the International Democratic Union and the leaders of the New Patriotic Party paid him a courtesy visit on Monday. the Jubilee House in Accra.
Vice President Bamumia said it was useful for members of organizations to come together to share their ideas and ensure that the principles of democracy are integrated into their activities for inclusive development.
It is in this context, he said, that the administration of the NPP in power, rooted in the Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), whose slogan was "Development in Freedom", had implemented policies and programs to improve the well-being of the population.
The vice president said that, as soon as he took office in 2017, the government led by Nana Akufo-Addo had implemented digitization policies, including the issuance of national identity cards uniquely identifying the entire country. world, the interoperability of mobile money payments to ensure financial inclusion and others. human-centered policies aimed at enhancing people's participation in development processes.
"We believe it is essential for the prosperity of the country," said Dr. Bawumia.
He noted that in a situation where there was more transparency and accountability in the development space, the political party was more likely to win an election.
He welcomed the fact that the 15 ECOWAS member countries elected democratically elected leaders and were convinced that democracy is rooted in the subregion and stressed the need to continue consolidating democracy to improve the lot of citizens . people.
This, he thought, would accelerate the development of the subregion and the world, and called for continued cooperation among members of the Organization for the well-being of the people.
Mr. Christian Kattner, Secretary General of the IDU, said in an address that the Organization had more than 80 political parties in the world and was interested in Africa because it wanted increased support for adhering to the principles of democracy, the market economy and freedom. continent.
These cardinal principles, he said, are essential for attracting investment to the continent. The Organization has therefore fought against undemocratic institutions and governments and ensured that political parties with like-minded ideologies came to power for the well-being of the people.
He described Ghana as the "beacon" for embracing the ideals of the Organization, which enhance the well-being of the people and stressed the need for members to network and support their friends and partners who were in difficult situations to gain power in their respective countries. .
Among the members of the UAS and UFP present are Mr. Peter Mac Manu, Vice-President of the UAS, Mr. Freddy Blay, National President of the NPP, Mr. John Boadu, Secretary General of the NPP and the Conservative Party of the United Kingdom.
The DUA leadership presented a citation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in recognition of his contribution to the Organization and conferred on him the role of honorary patron of the DUA.
He was received on his behalf by Vice President Bawumia.
The appointment of President Akufo-Addo to the Honorary Presidency is an excellent example for allowing other sister UDI parties to learn to gain power with a clearly conservative goal and programs aimed at giving prosperity and stability to peoples of their nations.
DUA representatives from 14 African countries, including Morocco, Uganda, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Côte d'Ivoire and Mozambique attended the meeting.
Also present were the Conservative Party of the United Kingdom, the International Democratic Union (IDU) and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung of Germany.
The International Democratic Union is an international alliance of right-wing right-wing political parties.
Its headquarters are in Munich, Germany, and is currently chaired by Mr. Stephen Harper, former Prime Minister of Canada.
The Organization, created in 1983, provides a forum for political parties that share similar beliefs and ideologies to exchange views on issues of political and organizational interest.
The ruling party, the new patriotic party (NPP), member of the DUA, will host the DUA representative at a conference to be held from February 3 to 5, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, with the aim of putting in place a new structure a new DUA board to lead the affairs of the Organization.
The meeting would focus on reviving its regional organization and DUA, which would serve as a platform for African member parties to exchange ideas and best practices and to receive training on campaigning and governance.
This would connect like-minded right-wing political party organizations in Africa to help them gain power and govern well.
