Lewis Hamilton said he has toned down his usual "aggressive racing style" to help him win the Chinese Grand Prix.
Hamilton again leads the World Championship with six points, after recording two consecutive wins and his 75th victory in his brilliant career.
Once Hamilton had the best getaway compared to Valtteri Bottas, his fellow countryman and teammate, the rest was a story.
But, while the victory was simple, his weekend was not so easy.
"During the weekend, the car really did not like the way I drive on this track," Hamilton said.
"I was always very fast here and my aggressive driving style worked very well. Then I have used it for the past two years. The tires did not allow it and the car did not allow it. I seemed to have lost a lot of performance. .
"I really needed to be dynamic enough to change my natural driving style, change it differently.
"I really did it at the end of qualifying, and then in the race, it was a bit of my usual driving style. Once in the lead, I was able to stay in position and do what I did. make."
Hamilton was also delighted to score the 1000th World Championship with another Mercedes 1-2.
"It's not the easiest weekend, but what a fantastic result for the team. Everyone worked so hard, "he added.
"We did not know where we would be with the Ferrari, they were so fast in the last race.
"Valtteri was fast all weekend, he did a great job today and having a double is really special for the 1000th GP.
He then added to Sky Sports F1: "I was just happy to have moved forward and made improvements in some areas.
"It does not matter if you're not perfect, as long as you make improvements, what I've done."
