According to his assistant, the claim of some Ghanaians is disrespectful
Ghana’s National Chief Imam Sheikh Osmanu Nunu Sharubutu vehemently denied allegations that Vice President Bawumia gave him the GH ¢ 50,000 money he (Imam) gave for construction from the National Cathedral.
The chief imam made the donation when the president and members of the board of directors of the national cathedral paid him a courtesy visit to congratulate him on the successful completion of the national mosque today, Thursday, August 26. 2021.
Chief Imam spokesperson Sheikh Aremeyaw Shuaibu said in an interview with Citi News that the move was aimed at further deepening peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims in the country.
According to him, the gift of the Chief Imam is to demonstrate the mutual cooperation that exists between Ghanaians of all faiths.
But some social media users claimed that the chief imam’s money came from Vice President Bawumia.
However, responding to the claims in an interview with Kasapa News’ Akwasi Nsiah, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shuaibu denied the claim and called it insulting.
“It can only be somebody’s imagination, how can anyone even think like that.” This is absolutely wrong, there are so many benevolent gestures that the Chief Imam has done without the support of politicians.
It is true that the Chief Imam has a relationship with all past and present governments, but he was the Chief Imam before all these governments came to power.
No politician gives him money to buy food for the hundreds of people who come to his house every day and he does the same during Ramadan. Yes, he sometimes receives donations but he is also a self-made man and it is not for us to probe how he obtains resources.
This claim that Vice President Bawumia gave the Chief Imam the money of GH ¢ 50,000 he gave for the construction of the National Cathedral is so disrespectful. “
