I do not really know if this nice little case for iPod Touch will work, or even if it is real, but superficially, it is very promising: the Apple Peel 520M promises to turn your SIM-less Touch card into a real smartphone.

How it works? As for the software, probably by jailbreak. The hardware is quite simple, however: simply insert your Touch into a case containing an Infineon baseband chip and an 800 mAh battery that can provide 4.5 hours of call time or 120 hours of standby time.

In summary, the Peel 520 is a mobile phone using a jailbroken iPod Touch as an external mobile phone screen. Ingenious and cute, but has the vaporware scent on it. If the Peel ends up becoming real, it will be released in China next week at a reasonable price of about 50 dollars. We will keep our eyes on the import shops.
