Tobiasz Niemiro, co-owner of BitMarket, today in Poland, was found dead, local radio station Radio Olsztyn announced on 25 July.
Local police said Niemiro was found dead with a skull injury near his home in Olsztyn. The exact circumstances of Niemiro's death have not yet been established.
The Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza, specializing in general and general information, suggested that Niemiro had committed suicide. The authorities are apparently still trying to determine the exact circumstances of Niemiro's death.
BitMarket suffered from a lack of liquidity
Niemiro bought the BitMarket grant one year after its launch with its commercial partner Marcin Aszkiełowicz. In early July, BitMarket announced a lack of liquidity and ceased operations. While trying to access the exchange via its website, users were greeted with the following text message in both English and Polish:
"Dear users, We regret to inform you that, due to the loss of liquidity, since 08/07/2019, Bitmarket.pl/net has been forced to cease its activities. We will inform you of next steps. "
Nearly 400 users have apparently been victims of the collapse of the exchange. In an interview with Money.pl, Niemiro baderted that he was not responsible for the developments and that he was also affected. At the time, Niemiro said:
"I lost everything because someone led to the collapse of the stock market. Now I lose the face and the good name for which I have worked all my life. I am one of the victims. "
