Abetifi government hospital abandoned project
Work is due to resume on the Abetifi government hospital project, which had been abandoned for four years.
This follows Parliament’s review of the budget allocation.
Eastern Region Minister Seth Acheampong gave assurance for the prosecution when last Tuesday he called Kwahu Supreme Leader Nana Daasebre Akuamoah Agyapong II to his Kwahu-Bene Palace in the East Kwahu District.
Mr. Acheampong explained that the revival of the project was further proof of the government’s determination to provide infrastructure to help improve healthcare delivery in the country.
He said the hospital was one of the highest priority projects the government wanted to complete soon to improve healthcare delivery in the Kwahu region.
Development initiatives
The regional minister, also from Kwahu, gave assurances that the government was determined to launch programs and interventions that would benefit the people and encouraged them to support these interventions for their successful implementation.
He said the Kwahu Bepong-Ntomem main road would soon be built to improve road infrastructure in the traditional area.
Acheampong said the project, which will cover 27 kilometers, will see the road paved for the first time and bring relief to farmers who find it difficult to transport their food crops to major cities, especially during the rainy season.

Nana Agyapong II welcomed the regional minister and his entourage to the palace and encouraged him to forge a united front with the municipal and district general managers of the region as well as with other stakeholders to enable him to accomplish the task. task entrusted to him.
The Supreme Leader urged Acheampong not to turn his back on Kwahuman but to make sure they get their share of the national pie and on time.
He lamented that “Kwahuman has nothing to show even if the ministerial post of the eastern region is still attributed to their natives”.
Kwahu-Bene’s Krontihene, Nana Simpeh-Wuradu III, welcomed the news that the Abetifi government hospital project would be relaunched.
He said it was irrelevant which administration initiated the project because as citizens of Kwahuman their main interest was in completing and commissioning the facility.
Abetifi Hospital
The abandoned 120-bed Abetifi government hospital project was launched in February 2015 by President John Mahama’s administration, but ended in October 2016.
This sparked numerous allegations of cost inflation and corruption when President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo took power in 2017 and has not been affected since.
The project, which is 35% complete, was one of a number of health facilities funded by the UK government at a cost of US $ 175 million, one being the inaugurated government hospital of Dodowa in the Greater Accra region.
The hospital has “two operating theaters, recovery units in the ward, a surgical service for men and women in ICU, a medical service for men and women, for accidents and emergencies, gynecology, a pediatric service, obstetrics and a public health service ”.
Other facilities include a dental unit, pharmacy, dispensary, blood bank, laboratory, consultation rooms, nursing staff, archives office, waiting room and reception.
