Hershey took note of the outcry sparked by the Kisses-free kiss in December and leaned on the problem. An update finally arrived on Thursday.
"We looked at Kiss's entire manufacturing process and made some changes to the boards' posting to help us achieve greater consistency," Michele Buck, CEO of Hershey, told CNBC.
Buck did not specify how the manufacturing process was causing the error or why it took so long to solve the problem. But she said Hershey appreciated the feedback and badured consumers that "changes have been made to avoid further disappointment".

One of the very first reports of the embarrbadment of the kiss came on December 3 when Debbie Krivoniak Sheetz of Greensburg, Pennsylvania, made peanut butter cookies, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. She noticed that the kisses she had bought to complete the cookies had no tips and was not impressed by what a customer service representative had told her when she called to report the problem.
Sheetz shared his frustration with the Facebook group, The Wedding Cookie Table Community.
"After giving the barcode (on the package) to the women on the phone, she comes back with" Oh yes, Hershey cut the tipping of all those milk chocolate kisses because they're not going to be on the phone. 39, interrupt that in transit. "Seriously? Sheetz wrote.
Many other messages and tweets lamenting kisses followed.
"Extremely disappointed by @Hersheys Kisses", did we read tweet from Taylor Roberts. "I opened a new bag today to make peanut butter cookies this NYE, and every tip is broken."
Extremely disappointed @Hersheys Kisses. I've opened a new bag today to make peanut butter cookies this NYE, and every tip is broken. Such a horrible quality and now my cookies are going to look 7/10 ALL bc Hershey is lazy. pic.twitter.com/UfTiCnMZ35

Now some have turned to Twitter to say they are delighted that the debacle has been resolved.
"Hershey solves the problem of missing Kisses tips. I do not know about you, but I'm relieved. tweeted user Marena Bronson.
Because of the volume of candy the company makes, Hershey said the improved Kisses would not be on sale for a few months.
