The High Court dismissed a motion to stop the criminal trial of the National President of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) opposition, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo.

Mr Ofosu Ampofo had lodged an application for a stay of proceedings in the court following an appeal from the judge's decision to dismiss two of the three charges against him.

Judge Samuel Asiedu, however, in his decision stated that the concerns raised by Mr. Ofosu Ampofo's lawyers were unfounded and would continue to hear the case while the appeal was heard.

Mr. Ofosu Ampofo was charged with one count of conspiracy to cause injury and two counts of badault on a public officer, while Kwaku Boahen faced to a charge of conspiracy to cause harm.

He allegedly incited some of his party supporters to engage in acts of violence, in apparent response to the violence that took place in the by-election of Ayawaso West Wuogon.

He was heard on a recording that allegedly leaked and sanctioned verbal attacks on officials such as the President of the Electoral Commission and the President of the National Peace Council.
