President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo
The creation of the Bono-Est region earned President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo a traditional title: Nana Sompahene Akufo-Addo I, awarded by the leaders and the people of Atebubu.
Sompahene literally means a "good servant".
On Sunday, the traditional Atebubu council celebrated the traditional rites and installed the president as head of the council bearing the name of the Atebubu palace stool.
Nana Owusu Acheaw Brempong I, President of the Council, said that Nana Akufo-Addo deserved this honor for her many social intervention programs aimed at improving the socio-economic livelihoods of the people.
President Akufo-Addo made a four-day working visit to the areas of Bono, Northeast and Ahafo.
Nana Brempong said the president's bold decision to create new regions indicated that the government's process of national reconstruction was underway.
He expressed optimism that Ghanaians will soon be benefiting from the Planting for Food and Jobs and One-District One Factory projects.
He appealed to the government for it to attack the perennial problem of water in the region.
In accordance with tradition, the Council presented the president with a cow and 200 yam tubers to introduce him to the Owusu Asare stool.
Nana Akufo-Addo thanked the Council for this honor and called for help from the population to facilitate accelerated national development.
The President had previously told the leaders and people of Amantin, in another place, that the development of Zongo communities was a priority for his government.
He then inaugurated a room reserved for women of the Atebubu Government Hospital and a new office complex for the Atebubu / Amantin municipal health insurance scheme.
