The management and academic board of the University of Winneba Education (UEW) have indefinitely postponed the 2018/2019 graduation ceremony scheduled for July 22, 2019 due to the absence from a board of directors.

The decision of the school authorities was taken after the end of the last board of directors' mandate on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Another council has not yet been reconstituted.

Speaking during an interview with Adom News, head of public relations at the university, Ernest Azutigah urged students to exercise restraint because the problem was eluding them.

"The Congregation for the students of the 2018/2019 academic year on the campuses of the region of Winneba, Kumasi and Ashanti has been postponed indefinitely because of the absence of a board of directors of 39; school. It goes beyond the university council, but we do our best to help the situation.

"We hope that the board of governors will be reconstituted by Monday to allow us to continue the ceremony," he said.

The president of the Council of UEW student representatives, Emmanuel Oduro Fosu, who explained the frustration of the students, said that they needed their certificates to be able to enter the job market and could not be at home when their colleagues from other institutions had graduated.

About 16,000 students from the Winneba and Kumasi campuses of the university are expected to graduate in the 2018/2019 congregation.
