The curse of La Llorona is part of The Conjuring Universe with a familiar face that appears in the new film.
The horror film, which was screened recently at the South by Southwest festival, is Michael Chaves' first film. Chaves also directs The Conjuring 3.
Critics and fans at the screening have confirmed that the new film is the sixth film in the series and that Father Perez (Tony Amendola), who played in Annabelle, returns.
Father Perez talks to Anna Garcia (Linda Cardellini) about the doll case, with an image of Annabelle flashing on the screen.
The curse of La Llorona takes place in Los Angeles in 1973, while Annabelle is set in southern California in 1967. Conjuring's first film dates back to 1971 and the sequel to 1976.
It seems that the new film is between the first two movies just after Annabelle.
Critics and fans have already started sharing their reviews after the first screenings with the most praise of Cardellini's performance.
James Wan, who directed the first two films, produced The Curse of The Llorona and gave way to Chaves for the third film.
Annabelle Comes Home, whose film will be released on June 28, 2019, is also in preparation.
The launch of The Conjuring 3 is scheduled for the following year, September 11, 2020.
The Crooked Man has also been confirmed, but there is no release date yet.
