The "dangerous" court is finally closed

The Ghanaian judicial authorities have grown weary of the poor state of infrastructure of the Adjabeng 2 District Court in Accra and have urgently ordered its immediate closure.

The district court, located around Kwame Nkrumah Mausoluem, was considered an insecure structure that could endanger human life and could collapse under pressure, with apparent cracks and an imperfect roof.

A statement issued by the judiciary referring to the reading of the closed court; "We regret the inconvenience this decision could cause to lawyers, court users and the general public. We wish to badure our stakeholders and the general public that this decision is in the interest of all parties and we count on their cooperation in this area ".

Ghana's Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo is keen to reorganize the state of Ghana's courts with firm lenses against ramshackle facilities and poorly equipped courtrooms. After visiting various jurisdictions across the country, the former Supreme Court Justice is convinced that the nation's courts need to be rehabilitated in order to strengthen judicial activities and she insists that will have no compromise possible.
