In an interview with Joy News, Ms. Wellington reportedly said: "What I know, it's [that] my father was killed illegallythere. There were other heinous crimes perpetrated at that time [so] all those who participated in this must face all the rigors of the law. "
On the occasion of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of June 4, 1979, former President Rawlings called for a complete overhaul of the Fourth Republic Constitution, which he says no longer serves the interests of the people.
The former president said: "This will ensure the equality of all before the law, by promoting transparency, accountability and responsible governance."

The 1979 revolt stems from what historians have termed a combination of corruption, poor governance, public frustration, lack of discipline and frustration within the Ghanaian army.
