TOKYO – The detention of former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn, suspected of financial misconduct, was approved until April 22.
Ghosn was arrested in November, released on bail last month but arrested again last week on new allegations. The Tokyo District Court on Friday approved the prosecutors' request to continue detaining Ghosn at the Tokyo Detention Center.
He was accused of falsifying financial documents by under-reporting his compensation and breach of trust by using Nissan Motor Co.'s money for questionable payments.
Ghosn led the Japanese automaker for two decades and claims to be innocent of the accusations behind his fall.
