A group of nurses from the Northern Region has been trained in hepatitis to build their capacity and skills in treating the disease.
A total of 215 nurses from various institutions in the Region benefited from the training day, which also contributed to the awareness of the disease.
It was organized by the Drive for Health Ghana Foundation (D4H), an NGO, with the support of Mega Lifesciences Ghana Limited, as part of the activities to mark Hepatitis B and C Day on the theme "Investing in the World". 'hepatitis".
Mr. Damasus Suglo, Executive Director of D4H, who spoke at the training in Tamale, emphasized the importance of training for nurses by stating, "They meet a lot of patients and need to have a good time. 39, learn new trends in hepatitis to save lives.
Mr. Suglo said: "Hepatitis is real, hepatitis exists, hepatitis affects everyone and it is important that everyone be tested and vaccinated if it is positive".
He urged health sector actors and governments to invest in hepatitis-related activities to fight the disease in order to save lives.
Dr. Braimah Abubakari, Deputy Director of Clinical Care at the Ghana Health Service, said the prevalence of hepatitis in the country had decreased, attributing the situation to early vaccinations, mother-to-child screening and early diagnosis and treatment.
Mr. Charles Ampong Adjei, a public health specialist, emphasized the need for the government to include hepatitis treatment in the National Health Insurance Plan, as well as nurses inculcating patients culturally appropriate health care services to help them treat the disease.
