Prince William called the Duke of Edinburgh for his opinion on the decision to split his home from Prince Harry's, revealed yesterday.
He telephoned Philip, 97, in Sandringham a few weeks ago, because he values his "wise advice", he was understood.
The prince knew that the separation of his younger brother was inevitable, but he was worried about his appearance. He wanted to be rebadured that Harry would be well supported by Buckingham Palace.
Prince William telephoned 97-year-old Sandringham to phone Philip, 97, because he appreciated his "wise advice."
For William, no one knows the palace better than his grandfather, nor would he want to give him a more impartial view of the brothers' projects. It is unclear what was discussed between the two men, but it is clear that the spirit of the future king was put to rest.
Thursday night, it was announced that Harry and Meghan would part with William and Kate in one of the biggest royal reshuffles in recent years.
The Duke and Duchess of Susbad will deploy all of their staff and offices to join the Queen at Buckingham Palace, thus cutting off any ties to Kensington Palace, where William and Kate live and work.
Harry and Meghan also named their own taxpayer-funded public relations chief, former Clinton advisor Sara Latham, along with the rest of their new household funded by the Queen and Prince Charles.
The separation of William and Kate with Harry and Meghan was announced Thursday night and William wanted to be rebadured that Harry would be taking care of Buckingham Palace.
The aides moved to quell rumors that the change was due to a break between the two brothers and their wives after reports of difficulties between them.
They insist that the changes should always take place because of William's future role as Prince of Wales and ultimately as King.
The Queen and Charles made it clear to the brothers that it would be best if the job change was made as soon as possible.
A source said: "It's about putting both dukes on a permanent footing so that changes are no longer necessary" [when Charles accedes to the throne and William becomes Prince of Wales]. '
The aides have moved rumors that the change is due to a break between the two brothers and their wives after reports of difficulties between them
The Cambridges have indicated that they would keep their court at Kensington Palace, rather than following Charles' footsteps and moving to Clarence House.
Harry and Meghan also declined the residency, claiming that they viewed their new Windsor residence, Frogmore Cottage, as their "forever home."
The Susbad will join the Queen's other children to settle in Buckingham Palace.
In the future, they will also be able to take care of a series of rooms for their stay in London.
