The Dutch airline KLM has ruthlessly trolled after tweeting on the "deadliest" seats of a plane in the event of an accident – The Sun

The Dutch airline KLM announced that the safest seats were on the back of the plane.

The now deleted tweet has been sent via the verified social media account of the airline in India, @KLM India.

The tweet from KLM India said: "According to data studies done by Time, the mortality rate for the seats in the middle of the plane is the highest.

"However, the mortality rate for front seats is slightly lower and the lower for seats located in the back third of an airplane."

It was accompanied by a subtitled image: "The seats at the back of an airplane are the safest!"

Twitter users responded quickly.

One person wrote: "@KLM I'm not sure if this is your brand's point of sale."

Another said, "KLM … did you miss the social media training?"

The tweet was an answer to a trivial question posed earlier by the airline, the Washington Post reported.

The airline subsequently deleted the tweet and apologized.

KLM India said: "The position was based on a public statement [sic] made available in aviation, and is not an opinion of @KLM. We have never intended to hurt anyone's feelings. The message has since been deleted. "

The tweet was probably based on a 2015 Time article stating that the seats at the back of the plane have the highest survival rates in the event of a collision.

The FAA, however, stated that there were too many variables during a crash to tell which section of an aircraft was the safest and that there were "so few" "Accidents – that a simple answer is probably not statistically defensible," the newspaper reported.

In a statement to Sun Online Travel, a spokesman for KLM said: "The position of our team in India was based on a fact publicly available for aviation and was not an opinion of KLM .

"KLM apologizes for any tweet distress, we will revise our Twitter protocol to better ensure proper content, and this message has since been removed."

KLM is one of the safest airlines in the world.

This is also not the only faux pas of social media committed by an airline.

A tweet from Ryanair mocking BA has returned against him earlier this year after Twitter users activated the airline.

Sun Online Travel has contacted KLM for a comment.
