Jean Mensah7 Jean Mensah, President of the EC

The Electoral Commission (EC) has suspended the limited registration exercise of voters, which was scheduled to start from Friday, June 7, 2019 to Thursday, June 27, 2019 in all of its district offices and in some electoral areas of the country.

The exercise was intended to provide an opportunity for Ghanaians who had reached the age of 18 from the last registration exercise, as well as those who, for one reason or another, had never registered.

In a statement, the EC said that they had suspended the exercise pending an injunction to prevent the Commission from holding the exercise of registration on the list of limited voters.

This exercise was to be part of the EC's preparations for holding the 2019 elections at the district level and the referendum on the election of the Heads of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Government (MMDCE) scheduled for Tuesday 10 December 2019.

Below is the complete statement of the Electoral Commission
