A non-surgical nose job that uses electricity and 3D printing is on the horizon – and people can come in and out in just five minutes.

Scientists have developed a way to change the shape of the nose by pbading an electric current through it, making the hard tissue and cartilage "floppy".

This would mold the now soft tissues into a new shape, says Dr. Michael Hill, whose team at Occidental College, Los Angeles, is developing the technique.

The procedure involves pbading a current through many tiny needles to soften the living tissue.

The nose would then be molded into the desired shape using a 3D printed model, which can be custom-made in minutes.

The new technique would eliminate the need for invasive surgeries and potential scars.

But it would only be appropriate for people who want to change the shape of their nose, rather than reduce it in size.

Presenting the method to the American Chemical Society, Dr. Hill said, "We envision this new technique as a low-cost office procedure performed under local anesthesia.

"The whole process would take five minutes."

The electric nose is the latest midi cosmetic procedure to gain popularity.

Liquid nasal stains, which involve the injection of filler into the face, have recently taken off, women asking £ 395 for 15-minute treatment.

But the charges will only last between one year and eighteen months. This is not a permanent solution.

And here's all you need to know about "liquid nose stains", which only take a few minutes.

Another non-surgical procedure, the threading of the lips, is the new cosmetic trend for a fleshier pout.

We recently revealed how to make false eyelashes stunning by soaking them in micellar water in minutes.
