According to BoxofficeIndia.com's report, Soumik Sen's director opened at the box office on Friday at the crest of 1.50 crore. The film would have undergone a name change a few days before its release, after the Council of Censorship had asked the authors of "Cheat India" to change the title to "Why Cheat India".

According to the actor, the suggestion to change the title diverts the energy of the manufacturer. About seven days before the publication, they were told to add the word "why" to the origin of the word "Cheat India", as the Censor Board did not consider it very appropriate. They added an extra word because they thought that only "Cheat India" was a slightly negative headline.

Speaking of the movie, Emraan reportedly stated that he had leaked the exams. Some friends of his friends bought questionnaires in advance. Later, they failed the exam because they were wrong questions. He also added that he had also seen how students were paying money to the supervisors for them to fill out the answers. However, Emraan said that he had never been involved in such activities, but he saw them happen.

In the film, Emraan Hashmi plays the role of a crook. He is the mastermind behind the entrance exam scam, which has a team of finishers who write exams for other candidates for cash.

The film also stars Shreya Dhanwanthary and Ammar Taalawala in essential roles.
