The extreme cold freezes Calgary and the region

Calgary is under an extreme cold alert as we dive deeper into freezing frost on Sunday and Monday.

We will have to adjust the thermostat again, with wind-related chills in the minus 40 forecasts.

A Calgarian from the Northwest Territories said that when he had gone through a warmer drought in the winter, he had disappeared from his home.

"But now it's snowing and now I'm happy," he said.

Environment Canada meteorologist Ron Mark said that after slamming east, the cold snap now covered the Prairies.

"Much of Alberta is now covered by an extreme cold alert, including the city of Calgary," Mark said. "We expect the temperatures to drop (Sunday) to Calgary and the surrounding area."

However, he does not expect the icy temperatures to remain with us last Tuesday with a high of minus 10 before Wednesday.

"From here, we reach the peaks of the day from Tuesday to the end of next week until the teenagers, but the nightly minimums could still be pretty cold," he said.

In the meantime, it is advisable to stay as much as possible inside the house and pack it when we go outside.

The skin can freeze in a few minutes at these temperatures.
