The first day of registration for the national identity card recorded a low participation in most centers in Accra.
Some centers visited by GhanaWeb had fewer than 50 registrations by 1 pm on Monday.
Ebenezer Asare Nti, head of registration coordination at Mataheko Old Faith Center, told the editorial staff that only 20 people were registered to receive the card at noon.
He said that "the participation rate is very low. We started to register around 7:30 and we only have 20 people to register. "
It was certain, however, that the number of soldiers in the center would increase over the days.
Explaining the conditions of registration, he stated that candidates had to provide either a true birth certificate, a valid Ghanaian pbadport or an acquired citizenship certificate, as well as a Ghana numerical address code. to be able to follow the process.
Applicants are also requested to bring their National Health Insurance Card, Voter ID Card, Driver's License and SSNIT Biometric Card for entry.
The Ghana Card will replace the other cards in the system and must be accepted by all institutions as a valid identity card.
Registration for the national identity card that began in the Greater Accra region on Monday, April 29, 2019 is scheduled to end in the central region on June 6th.
