Steve McClaren broke his silence after being sacked this week as director of the Queens Park Ranger.

The former English boss was sacked after 11 months of leadership, leaving the Hoops in 17th place in the championship and just eight points from the fall zone.

McClaren admitted that the "inconsistent" results were behind the loss of his job, before adding that "results and patience were not forthcoming".

In a statement issued by the Association of League Directors, McClaren said: "It is a privilege and an honor to have led QPR, a club with such a remarkable history and tradition in English football.

"I am very disappointed to leave at this point of the season after everyone has worked so hard to achieve the club's goal of staying in the league.

"After a bad start to the match, our performances in mid-season allowed us to fight for a place in the playoffs, but since then, the results have been inconsistent, but in 7 games of the end, I am very confident that staying in the championship is achievable.

"We have worked hard to create an environment and a culture to develop young players for the long-term stability of the club, however, we are in a results-based business and unfortunately the results and patience are not at home. Appointment.

"I thank the owner and the board for giving me the opportunity to manage QPR, as well as the staff and players who have been a pleasure working with them.

"Finally, thank you to the fans who have been loyal to the players throughout the highs and lows of the campaign, and wish all of you good luck for the rest of the season."
