A Hawaiian Airlines flight from Honolulu to New York was diverted to San Francisco after the death of a flight attendant who died of a heart attack, officials said Friday (Saturday, local time).

The Hawaiian Airlines flight 50 landed Thursday night after a crew member had "an alleged heart attack," said the San Francisco airport spokesman , Doug Yakel.

Medical personnel attempted to perform CPR during the flight, but suspended their efforts before landing. The San Mateo County coroner said the crew member died on his arrival, Yakel said.
