The forces loyal to Libyan General Khalifa Haftar have targeted the House of Representatives in Tripoli, a local source said.
Speaking to Anadolu Agency The source added that the strikes targeted "a zoo in the center of Tripoli, causing damage to the Rixos building, located in the zoo's facilities and chosen by a group of deputies as a House of Representatives".
The Interior Ministry, affiliated with the nationally supported, UN-backed government, denounced the bombing of the House of Representatives. The building was damaged as a result of the attack but no one was injured.
In a statement, the ministry said that "such an offense adds to the war crimes committed by Haftar's forces against Tripoli." This is not the first time it was preceded indiscriminate bombing of residential areas. "
"Such criminal acts are only a desperate attempt on the part of these invading forces to avenge their defeat," he added.
The ministry called on the international community to respond to such aggression against Tripoli, which threatens the safety and security of civilians and unarmed individuals.
Since April 4, Haftar forces have been attacking the capital, Tripoli, with the aim of overthrowing the recognized international government in the region.
The attack sparked international condemnation and denunciation and suspended UN efforts to resolve the conflict.
