Harmon says, "I just have to keep telling myself that I can do that. … I do it for myself. I do it for all those who have been banished by their loved ones. I know it's not fair my experience and if I can be open about it and vulnerable, then maybe that can give hope to someone else. "
After his performance, Harmon said, "I was going to dedicate this song to my parents. They were really in my mind when I sang that. I just want them to know that I love them and I have tried to communicate that.
Harmon first drew the judges' attention with an original song about entering paradise as a gay man.
He continued to win the heart during the audition week with the covers of "Beautiful" Carole King and "The first time in my life, I saw your face".
