A Deputy Attorney General said that a presidential staff member besieged in the Galamsey saga about corruption by Anas Aremeyaw Anas had not been sponsored by government for the public meeting in the UK.

Godfried Yeboah Dame said that Charles Bissue was in the UK and at the event on his own and that he did not in any way represent the government.

"The program was open to the public, and even a few whites were present, so if a Ghanaian citizen wants to attend, so be it," he said.

On Tuesday, he told Evans Mensah in Joy FM's TV show that the measures taken by government to deal with the former member of the presidential staff who retired, is "Public knowledge".

"Mr. The question of Charles Bissue is indeed the subject of an investigation by two independent institutions of the United States. State that is, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Special Prosecutor's Office, "he said.

Mr. Bissue, then secretary of the Interministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), was indicted in an undercover documentary from Anas for accepting cash gifts to allow a corporation unapproved mining to operate.

In a letter last month, he affirmed his innocence with regard to all extortion allegations in the documentary "Galamsey Fraud".

An indignant speaker at the public meeting in London was surprised to see Mr Bissue at the meeting and asked for explanations as to why he was there.

Since Saturday, the video of the diaspora living in London, looking for answers about his presence at the meeting, became viral to the surprise of the Deputy Attorney General.

Mr. Ddame said that the topic had become a topic of discussion on traditional and social media because of "malicious" unilateral publications.

"It is clear that the question was asked and that there was an answer on the spot … The answer was first given by the Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Hadzide, and I also took the trouble to answer because it was addressed to me, "he told Joy News.

According to him, Mr. Bissue had already told the public that he had been invited by the CID so it was not as if the government was protecting itself, some people wanting to let it appear.
