Honorary Secretary of the Institute of Architects of Ghana, Augustus Richardson
The Ghana Institute of Architects gives the government until the end of July to reconstitute the board of directors of the architects' registration board.
On The Big Issue, Honorary Secretary of the Institute of Architects of Ghana, Augustus Richardson, has alluded to lawsuits if the institute's demands are not met.
"It is important that we act according to the law. If this does not happen at the end of July, we will do what we need to do. We will not sit down for some of these things anymore. "
Mr. Richardson also stated that the Institute was seeking a "legal counsel" on the way forward and possibly an arrangement providing for the appointment of the Board by the Architects Registration Board, and not by the President.
The board has had more advice since 2017 and the government has still not backed its badurances on the issue.
"We had our AGM in March. There was a representation of the government. We have been informed that the board of directors will be set up in two weeks. Right now, we do not have that, "said Richardson.
He stressed the importance of the board of directors recalling that "even issues of discipline … the board of directors must ratify these things. If there is no council, the council alone can not do it in accordance with the law. "
The Architects Registration Board is the regulatory body of the architectural profession established by the Architects Act 1969, NLCD 357.
It is an agency of the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MWH) supervised by a board of directors composed of 10 members, five of whom are appointed by the professional body of architects: l & # 39; Institute of Architects of Ghana, four institutional members and the Registrar of the Council.
