Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful announced that government officials and public officials would stop using their private emails to perform their official duties.
Speaking at the opening session of the National Cyber Security Technical Working Group for the first retreat in 2019, the MP for the Ablekuma West constituency said that the use of Private e-mails such as Yahoo, Gmail, do not create the impression of seriousness in the tasks of the state.
She told the media that the government had approved the migration of all civil servants to the .gov.gh domain, which is the official domain name of the Government of Ghana.

The minister also said that the use of private emails exposes the country's critical information to cybercrimes.
She said it was important that the state protect the ecosystem of public information.
Ursula added that some departments, agencies and ministries have already started using public e-mail.

She also revealed that sanctions would be imposed on public servants who would continue to use private e – mails by the end of 2019.
