The Government of Ghana, in partnership with UNESCO, would organize a stakeholder engagement tomorrow, July 19, 2019, on the project of National Coordinating Mechanism for Safe and Responsible Journalism in the country.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Information and signed by the Deputy Minister of Information, Pius Enam Hadzide, the engagement would be held at the Alisa hotel in Accra.

Stakeholders come from the Executive, the Legislative Assembly, the Judiciary, the Police, the Armed Forces, the National Peace Council, the National House of Chiefs, the National Commission for civic education, the Ghana Journalists Association, the Association of Independent Broadcasters of Ghana, the Association of Private Newspaper Publishers of Ghana, the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (Ghana Writers' Association) and civil society organization (media).

The statement said the government, taking seriously reports of badaults and brutality on journalists, is working to implement a plan of action on the safety of journalists and journalists. against impunity, in accordance with its mandate to defend and ensure a comprehensive approach to media development. and creating an environment conducive to the practice of safe and responsible journalism.
