The 26-year-old refused to back down despite raiders wielding knives during the incident in north London on Thursday afternoon.

And later, the Gunners' defender showed that the attack had not rocked him when he had posted an emoji fist on his Twitter page.

The tweet was subsequently deleted, but it showed that Bosnia and Herzegovina was not in the mood to be intimidated by the violent thugs who had come to fetch him.

Calvary began at Defender Kolasinac in Childs Hill around 5 pm on Thursday when thugs armed with knives attempted to steal a watch and access Ozil's car.

But after Kolasinac returned to the car, the horror continued as the moped aggressors pursued the players for a mile and a half at Golders Green Road.

Even when midfielder Ozil's car stopped, the attackers wearing a helmet threw stones and a brick at the 4×4 windows.

Ozil "terrified" and his wife Amine, who was in the car at the time of the attack, then dropped the gold-plated SUV and fled on foot.

They took refuge in their favorite Turkish restaurant, which the star had called for help during the tragedy.

Staff immediately rushed to help the star, estimated at £ 350,000 a week, on the street to chase possible hackers off the road.

Police rushed to the scene and police officers were then seen interrogating the Gunners, 30.

Azuka Alintah, a 36-year-old finance employee, had gone out to buy food when he witnessed the end of the appalling hunt.

He told the Mail Online: "It was totally crazy and strange.

"Ozil looked absolutely terrified, as anyone after being chased by men with knives.

"He seemed to run for his life, and I guess he was there.

"I saw him disappear into the restaurant with the bikers on his tail.

"They did not take off their helmets and were all black, they wore long sleeve tops in warm weather, they stood out, it was really scary.

"God knows what would have happened if they caught him.

"It seemed to me that he would have been torn to pieces and that he would think so too."

How Kolasinac's family fled the bloody war

THE 6ft Bosnian – known as The Tank – was born in Germany of refugee parents who fled their home country, the Balkans.

They settled in Karlsruhe where Father Faik worked in a local Mercedes-Benz factory while Kolasinac began to attract the attention of German clubs.

Although he became famous, the humble footballer always made sure to go home every week for a traditional dinner prepared by his mother.

The family still makes an annual visit to their native Domanovici, but Kolasinac congratulated the German for the way the country helped his family.

He said in 2017: "I have to thank Germany for everything, just like my family.

"At that time, it was not easy as a refugee. In my country there was a war, it was not easy to go to Germany and get a foothold. Germany has made this possible.

Kolasinac, a member of his family, married his longtime girlfriend, Bella, last month in Baden, after meeting her at Schalke 04.

It is in Germany that The Tank met for the first time his best friend, Ozil, who, at age five, took care of him.

The two players united by their common Muslim religion and have since attended the respective marriages.

Yasmin Tahsiner, the co-owner of Likya restaurant where the stars have taken refuge, told Sky News that the two footballers are loyal customers.

She confirmed that a panicked man had called his business partner during the pursuit of "10 or 15 minutes" and told him to call the police.

There have been no arrests and detectives are investigating the brazen attack, said Scotland Yard.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police added: "It has been reported that motorcycle suspects tried to rob a man who was driving a car.

"The driver and his pbadenger were able to get out safely and went to a restaurant in Golders Green, where agents talked to them."

In a tweet now deleted, Kolasinac posted a picture of the bump hump emoji last night.

Ozil and Kolasinac have been friends since adolescence when they played together at the German side of the Schalke 04 and they have been getting closer since the Bosnian under his wing at Arsenal in 2017.

They were photographed together at Kolasinac's wedding with Bella, along with Ozil's wife, Amine Gulse, in Baden, Germany.

How moped aggressors targeted the rich and famous

The violent attack against Ozil and Kolasinac is the latest in a series of moped flights celebrated in the United Kingdom.

Last month, Strictly star Pacha Kovalev had his cell stolen by moped thieves while he was standing in front of a theater.

Last year, comedian Michael McIntyre was badaulted by thugs armed with a knife in front of his terrified 11-year-old son in Hampstead, northwestern London.

The same month, Keith Lemon was attacked in the street by moped aggressors who tried to take his watch.

Sajid Javid revealed in 2018 that burglars had stolen his mobile phone while he was in front of Euston station.

Another politician, George Osborne, was also targeted by a gang that stole 103 phones in 18 days of terror.

In 2016, footballer Andy Carroll was pursued by an armed gun attacker while he was driving his Jeep to the West Ham training field.

But celebrities are not the only targets: shocking figures revealing that crime related to mopeds has increased by 1,000% in the United Kingdom in the last three years.

And Lawless London has seen the largest increase in moped flights, where more than 19,000 separate offenses were registered last year alone.

A motorcycle mobster burst out laughing when he told The Sun Online last year that he could earn £ 1,500 a day by stealing innocent victims in London and boasting that the cops are powerless.

The former gangster, he has "no remorse" for the crimes that he has committed and stated that he would target the rich because they are insured, adding: " They will not miss anything, I love it. "

The cops had been criticized because of a widespread belief that they were not allowed to sue a suspect on a moped if they did not wear a helmet.

However, the proposed legislative amendments make it clear that specially trained police drivers can pursue a cyclist without a helmet.

Specialized cops, known as the Scorpion Squad, now use "tactical" shelling to suppress brutal crime.

Arsenal fan, Piers Morgan, tweeted: "The incredible courage of Sead Kolasinac – it looks like he's attacked the whole gang of mopeds / knives."

Both players have just returned to England after Arsenal's pre-season tour of America.

They each took part in Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in Washington DC.

Arsenal then lost 3-2 on penalties against the International Champions Cup.

A spokesman for Arsenal confirmed that the duo was involved in an attempt to hijack the car.

They added: "We have been in contact with both players and they are fine."
