The Supreme Leader of Osu's traditional council, Nii Okwei Dowuona IV, called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to intervene in a land dispute with the Achimota School.

According to Nii Dowuona IV, the judgment was rendered on the ground and Osu was declared a legitimate owner.

He added that the famous school however claimed the package and designated the traditional authority as an encroacher.

As a result, military officers were deployed to protect what was once a greenbelt.

Nii Dowuona, who is also president of the House of Chiefs of Greater Accra Region, launched the appeal on Friday, May 24, during a courtesy visit to the president at the Jubilee House.

"Honestly, Mr. President, we have decisions to make in this regard," he told President Akufo-Addo.

He said that all traditional rites have been celebrated since the court decision was issued.

"We have come a long way in trying to make the place stand out and then distribute it to families in the community.

"Currently, the military is on the ground and we are not able to do it."

He therefore appealed to the President "so that you try to intervene and solve this problem for us".

The president, for his part, has badured the traditional authority that he will look at it and solve it.

President Akufo-Addo was unhappy with the presence of the army, saying that the rule of law must prevail.
