The demolition crews began demolishing Steve Jobs' dilapidated mansion at Woodside.
The Conservatives wanted to save the historic mansion, but Jobs wants to build a smaller, modern residence on the property. The 86-year-old manor was the subject of a long legal battle that Jobs finally won. Famous jobs lived in the mansion during the 80s. It was empty of furniture and he neglected to mow the lawn.
The San Francisco Chronicle spoke to a resident of the city and got a quote from Jobs' lawyer:
"I just heard a background noise over there and I saw it happen," said Greg Moretti, 37, of Woodside. "Whatever your views on the demolition debate, it's hard to deny that we are witnessing today the loss of an important piece of California's architectural history."
Jobs' lawyer, Howard Ellman, said, "He asked to demolish the house, we got the house demolition permit and the demolition started today. What more can i say?"
