The Grand National riders' field will soon be finalized – as will the list of horses in the Great National Reserve.

There are 40 horses in each Grand National, finalized from a longer list of potential entries at 10am on the Thursday preceding the race.

Reserve horses are horses that could be run in the race and did not make the initial selection.

The list includes four horses from the national reserve.

They will replace all horses that give up, until 1 pm on the Friday before the race. After that, the horses that give up will not be replaced.

Although the reserve horses are R1, R2, R3 and R4, if they join the main field, they take the number of the horse they are replacing.
