The Hyundai IONIQ EV gets an update of the lineup if needed – but not as far as you could hope

Even when it was launched in 2016, the Hyundai IONIQ EV was considered to have a mediocre range.

Of course, in 2016, its official 124-kilometer EPA-approved range compared it to that of the 2016 Nissan LEAF with a 30-kWh battery. But these days, it seems rather boring for itself when other electric cars on the market are gearing towards 60 kWh batteries and distances of more than 200 km as standard.

So why has Hyundai just unveiled a refreshed long-range IONIQ EV with a 38-kilowatt-hour battery for the 2020 model year, while the other Hyundai Kias have batteries exceeding 60 kWh?
Will someone buy it? Or is it a clever decision to give a plug-in to buy at the middle market?
