Forty-two Russian athletes have been allowed this year by the International Federation of Athletics (IAAF) to become neutral.

The world athletics governing body banned Russia in November 2015 because of state sponsored doping evidence.

The IAAF has stated that those allowed to compete under a neutral banner "have met the exceptional eligibility criteria".

He added that he gave priority to "applications from athletes wishing to participate in the indoor season".

Russia will learn Tuesday if it faces new sanctions on the December deadline to allow investigators from the World Anti-Doping Agency to access the Moscow laboratory at the center of the doping scandal.
