Dr. Daankre Amankona Diawuo, Supreme Head of Berekum in the Bono region, challenged the Electoral Commission (EC) committee to facilitate the implementation of the Law on the Amendment of the Representation of the People (ROPAA) in order to to ensure its implementation the supreme interest of the nation.
He pointed out that although Parliament pbaded Law 699 in 2006 to extend the right to vote in public elections and referendums of Ghanaian citizens residing abroad, its implementation had been delayed due to difficulties.
Daasebre Mr. Diawuo took up the challenge at a regional stakeholder engagement meeting on the ROPAA, held in Sunyani, organized by the EC for stakeholders of selected electoral processes in the Bono, Bono regions East and Ahafo.
The nine-member committee is in the process of implementing a national stakeholder engagement process to sensitize citizens to ROPAA and to gather their views and opinions in order to facilitate the process. harmonious implementation of the law.
Daasebre Diawuo noted that the ROPAA was commendable and should be implemented to consolidate the achievements of democratic governance, saying that "the national consultation on the ROPAA is very necessary and I urge Ghanaians to participate and share ideas that could make its implementation successful.
