Inter Milan is not willing to increase its bid on Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku missed all four pre-season matches from United so far and was ruled out of the roving team for Tuesday's friendly against Kristiansund in Norway.

It is thought that United would have rejected an offer of £ 54 million for the Belgian of Inter with the uncompromising hierarchy of clubs. At least he will recover at least the £ 75 million paid to Everton for his services in 2017.

However, Inter's managing director, Beppe Marotta, believes their offer is fair and represents the current value of Lukaku.

"We made a strong, valid offer that matched the transfer value of the player, and we could not make a deal," he told Sky Sport Italia.

Marotta then suggested the club explore other options.

"The club is strong, but we have to stay within certain parameters, the club has made big investments and we think we are already at a good stage of the process.
