The partial closure of the US government that entered its 33rd day on Thursday blocked the investigation in 87 major accident cases, according to the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
According to a report published in CNN On Wednesday, the incidents involve aircraft, auto, marine and railway accidents, some of which are causing numerous casualties.
In a statement, the NTSB said the delay in the investigation would only block prevention opportunities, thus increasing the risk of an accident.
"We are losing important evidence that we would normally consider after an accident. This evidence could potentially support safety recommendations, which, once adopted, could prevent future accidents and save countless lives. are unable to do so as this judgment continues, "said the NTSB spokesman.
The NTSB has a total of 397 employees, of whom 365 are on leave. Six staff members were recalled to participate in international aviation accidents.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky, organized the two confrontational votes for Thursday, a day before some 800,000 federal workers are about to miss a second paycheck.
McConnell accused the Democrats of preferring "a political fight with the President" to the resolution of the 32-day federal partial closure. He said the Democrats were ready to give up federal workers, migrants and all Americans "just to extend this series of political theaters so that they could look like champions of the so-called resistance" against Trump.
The second US Federal Closure in 2018, which continued until January 2019, began on Saturday, December 22 at midnight, Eastern Time. In US politics, the government is stopping when Congress fails to fund federal government operations and agencies or when the president refuses to sign such bills or resolutions.
