A Kentucky jury rejected claims that Johnson & Johnson's talcum powder contains asbestos and would cause mesothelioma, the company said in a statement, a victory for J & J in the defense of its iconic product.
In a statement, J & J said the jury had made its decision about 30 minutes after a two-week trial. The company said it was the sixth time in the past year that it had won mesothelioma and that all verdicts against J & J had been overturned on appeal.
"Today's decision and the results of these tests correspond to decades of clinical evidence and scientific studies conducted by medical experts around the world who confirm the safety of Johnson & # 39; s Baby Powder, "said the company in a statement.
J & J faces more than 14,000 lawsuits, alleging that her baby powder, which bears her name, would have caused mesothelioma and ovarian cancer. The company's goal is to reject approximately 11,000 cases of ovarian cancer in which pending trial proceedings have been consolidated into a dispute involving multiple districts.
Concerns about J & J's baby powder threaten the image of society for the family.
J & J shares rose 1.6% this year. The S & P 500 health care index grew about 5.2% over the same period.
