It may never have been thought of like this, but Australian High Commissioner to Ghana Gregory Andrews believes the engraving of the name ‘Kufuor’ on our bright yellow gallons and specific buses symbolizes the great love of the Ghanaians for the former president.

Ambassador Gregory Andrews revealed that even before he landed in Ghana for the first time, he was already familiar with the famous “Kufuor gallon” and “Kufuor bus” assignments.

This, according to the diplomat, is a representation of Ghana’s love for the old statesman.

Gregory Andrews made the observation during a visit to the residence of former president John Agyekum Kufuor in Accra, where he twice described the president as a gentleman.

He expressed his gratitude to the President for donating two peacocks from his house, describing how the two shared a common love for gardening.

“It was an absolute privilege this afternoon to spend a few hours with the former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Kufuor, who was kind enough to donate two of his peacocks to the High Commission. We are both passionate gardeners. and I enjoyed walking around his garden together, examining the plantains, avocados and lemons, ”he said.

The diplomat also explained that having finally met the former president, and having already heard about the many popular attributions that his name commands in the country, he has no doubt that everything is for love.

“I couldn’t help but tell His Excellency that when I hear Ghanaians talk about ‘Kufuor Gallons’ and ‘Kufuor bus’, I know it is because of their love and respect. for him.

“From the day I arrived in Ghana, everyone has told me how much of a gentleman he is. They’re right. And I am honored to have a new Ghanaian friend, ”he explained.
