The latest Liverpool and Man City games – How the Reds can put an end to their Premier League title

Liverpool took advantage of the Manchester City FA Cup exploits to overtake Pep Guardiola's team at the top of the Premier League standings after defeating Southampton on Friday night.

Goals from Naby Keita, Mohamed Salah and Jordan Henderson allowed the Reds to come back to score the three points at St. Mary 's after Shane Long gave in advance to the hosts.

Jurgen Klopp's men fell to second place in the middle of the week after Man City's 2-0 victory over Cardiff City.

But with City FA Cup, Liverpool took the first place with five games to play, having played a game more than its rivals in the title.

Will Liverpool succeed in ending 29 years of waiting for a league title?

Here's what the respective calendars look like as the season begins in the last six weeks.

Sunday, April 14: Crystal Palace v Man City (14:05), Liverpool v Chelsea (16:30)

By a quirk of the list of matches, it was exactly the same match of the afternoon when the momentum of the title had rocked from Liverpool to City in 2014.

Palace, of course, had won 3-2 at City before Christmas and drew 0-0 at Selhurst Park last season. City, however, had won 14 of the previous 15 meetings.

Liverpool recently broke his record against Chelsea, having beaten the Londoners only twice in the last 16 games. Chelsea has already won at Anfield in the League Cup this season and has not lost since 2012.

Saturday, April 20: Man City v Tottenham (12:30)

City won at Wembley in October with just one goal and won their last three games against Londoners.

However, they have recently had trouble at home against the Spurs, who drew in Etihad in 2017 and won the previous campaign.

Sunday, April 21st: Cardiff – Liverpool (16h)

The Klopp team beat the Welsh 4-1 team at Anfield and won the last five meetings, including a 6-3 win on its last trip to South Wales in 2014.

Cardiff is one of the few teams to have won more than she lost to Liverpool, although her last win was in 1959.

Wednesday, April 24: Man Utd v Man City (20h)

City won 3-1 at Old Trafford in November and recently broke the record in front of its neighbors, having lost only one of their last seven visits to the Premier League.

United, however, won a home league match in 2016, and the proposal is much tougher this season with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer than Jose Mourinho.

Friday, April 26th: Liverpool v Huddersfield (8pm)

The Reds were pushed hard for their 1-0 win at the Terriers when Klopp's best man, David Wagner, was still leading the hosts.

Liverpool won both games last season and is unbeaten in 13 after their last defeat in 1959.

Sunday, April 28: Burnley v Man City (14:05)

Turf Moor was one of the few places where the city had not won last season after being tied for 1-1.

But Guardiola's men have won 5-0 at home in the Premier League and FA Cup this season and have lost only one of the last 21 clashes, a race dating back to 1974.

Saturday, May 4: Man City v Leicester (12:30)

City lost to Leicester at Christmas, ending a five-game winning streak against the Fox. However, they have only been beaten at home once since 2004.

However, this match could be moved if Man City progressed in the Champions League according to the schedule of semi-finals.

Sunday, May 5: Newcastle v Liverpool (4:30 pm)

Newcastle was swept 4-0 at Anfield but Liverpool did not have a good record at St James' Park since he won only 1 win over 7 – the 6-0 triumph of 2013.

Like City's game against Leicester, the Reds' move to St. James's Park could also be postponed again if Klopp's team progressed in the Champions League according to the semifinal schedule.

Sunday, May 12: Brighton v Man City (3 pm), Liverpool v Wolves (3 pm)

The city has only met Brighton 20 times before, but has won all three Premier League games, including a 2-0 home victory in September.

Liverpool lost to the Wolves in the FA Cup in January but won at Molineux the previous month in the Premier League. However, they have lost three of Anfield's last six games between the two teams.
