Pixar has released a new trailer for Toy Story 4 – supposedly the latest Toy Story movie, despite the fact that similar things have been said to Toy Story 3 – and with a better look at the film, the trailer explains clearly: Pixar wants adults to cry in movie theaters while watching his films.

This feeling is not entirely new: the complete opening of up for example, seems tailored to tear the tears to the hardest of hearts – but the Toy Story 4 The trailer really hits home, with Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) crossing with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), an adventurous adventurer, and apparently questioning his very purpose of making the kids happy. It is an existential crisis designed to sob the adults who rethink their own career and goals in life.

The trailer sounds a lot more melancholy than the first teasers, which consisted of a flickering animated spork and new characters cast by comedy duo Key and Peele making Buzz Lightyear jokes "your mother". Presumably, the final cut will follow the tracks of the previous films in the series and will walk between the emotional and the comic.

A synopsis of Toy Story 4 from Disney Pixar reads as follows:

Woody has always trusted in his place in the world and in his priority: taking care of his child, be it Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a new reluctant toy called "Forky" in her bedroom, an adventure on the road with old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.

Toy Story 4 will be released on June 21, 2019.
