Haruna Iddrisu, leader of the minority in Parliament, said he was participating in the Parliamentary Services Council's discussions with a view to expanding the chamber's mandate.
The MP for South Tamale said he was attending all the meetings of the new chamber and that he even had to ask for a change in the schedule of the President's invitation for a meeting on Friday, 5 July.
"My points of view on this subject, Mr. President, are views recorded in the minutes and in the recording of the proceedings of the parliamentary session. [Service] Board."
Haruna Iddrisu clarified the perception that he had not participated in the discussions for the construction of the 450-seat room.
Critics, including some legislators, argue that the decision is a unique conception of the majority and the executive.
Public acrimonies have taken place against this initiative, some people having already expressed their opposition through demonstrations.
There's even a social media campaign labeled #DropThatChamber that vehemently opposes the move.
"Mr. President, I am not insensitive to public opinion," said Haruna Iddrisu.
"Therefore, the comments of the public and, unfortunately, even the members of Parliament themselves have not been informed. . This is unfortunate.
On Thursday, the leader of the majority, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, said that, despite the idea put forward by the Council, no decision has yet been taken on the costs.

"Nothing in terms of cost is decisive," he said, insisting: "it was a trip we were making".
