Liberian President and former international footballer George Weah returned to his official office just two weeks after his retirement, as two snakes were found in his building.

The building had to be completely fumigated before the president was invited back Wednesday.

One of the first people to visit President Weah at the office was former Vice President Joseph Boakai, who had lost him in the 2017 presidential election.

Mr. Weah informed him of his government's efforts to "protect the principles of democracy" and to attract foreign investment in order to revive the economy, said a statement posted on the presidency's website. .

The office of the president is installed in the six-story building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since the 2006 fire that destroyed the neighboring presidential manor.

The snakes that emerged from a hole on the ground floor of the six-story building returned there when people desperately tried to kill them.
