Legendary Entertainment would be working on another real action movie, based this time on the original Pokemon games.
We Got This Covered, which has published many rumors about the future of the real Pokemon action franchise, now claims that Legendary is working on an action-based movie Red & Blue Pokémon, the first Pokemon video games. The rumor, which comes from one of the site's "trusted sources", indicates that the film will run in the same universe as Detective Pikachu But we will focus on the story that introduced players to the world of Pokemon in the late 1990s.
The rumor is interesting for several reasons. If we have this movie covered is correct, it means that Legendary is developing several real-action Pokemon movies with plans for a "Pokemon Cinematic Universe", each with its own flavor. Detective Pikachu obviously has a whimsical and humorous inclination, while the supposed Mewtwo the film would probably have darker shades. If a Red and Blue Pokémon film is in the making, it would probably be a simple adventure film pitting a protagonist against Team Rocket.
But the problem with this rumor is that Red and Blue Pokémon does not lend itself exactly to a movie format. None of the main series of Pokemon games has solid ground, especially the first games. Even though Legendary will probably not produce a film about grinding Mount Moon to try to raise your Squirtle, the only real plot Red and Blue Pokémon It's the fight against Team Rocket.
Pokemon: Let's go, Pikachu and Eevee Recently, Team Rocket's script has been updated to give it a little more meat, but the games consist mainly of traveling from town to town and ending generic money management and entertainment programs. Team Rocket Pokemon before launch. In addition, a Red and Blue Pokémon The film would be even more boring if they trained Mewtwo in his own film … unless Legendary Pictures wanted to produce three films focused on the Legendary Pokémon.
We are obviously skeptical about this rumor, but it is clear that Legendary Pictures has high hopes for Detective Pikachu, which is released on May 10th. The success of Detective Pikachu could determine if any of these other projects of suspected Pokemon movies is born.
