The Microfinance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) has accused former President John Dramani Mahama and his former administration of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from causing financial losses to the state.

The former president allegedly chased the state up to the sum of 23 396 074.48 Gh ¢ by the purchase of some buses in 2016.

According to MASLOC, the reported loss corresponds to the total overcharging and deferred tax.

The Center said in a statement in response to a recent call by Mr Mahama asking MASLOC to return to the GPRTU (Private Road Transport Union) vehicles purchased in 2016.

MASLOC reacted to the call launched in the release signed by its public relations officer, Fred Ohene Offei-Addo. According to him, "the call of the former president was very unfortunate, misleading and a calculated attempt to dodge the fact that his administration had environment conducive to serious administrative anomalies."

He says that the Public Procurement Act (PPP) has been totally ignored and has not been duly followed.

According to the statement, during the procurement process, the vehicles were received and ordered by the former president on December 1, 2016, while the contract for the purchase and supply of vehicles
was executed on December 6, 2016.

MASLOC states that "it should also be noted that the vehicles to which he referred are those which the Minister of Finance under his government, Seth E. Terkper, authorized the controller and accountant to release an amount of 37,000 000.00 Gh. December 5, 2016. to allow his CEO of MASLOC, at the time, to pay a supplier who had not signed a contract with the center. "

He indicated that the GPRTU refused to take delivery of the vehicles solely because of the price.

The vehicles, he adds, have been made commercially unattractive because of the erroneous procurement procedure adopted for their purchase.

At present, the statement adds that prices in the vehicle market are cheaper than those at which MASLOC is able to offer
the carpet.
