The Manchester City star meets a young football fan who is the victim of racial violence and gives him a signed jersey and more tips.

Raheem Sterling met the young football fan to whom he wrote an inspiring letter after learning that he was a victim of racial abuse.

Ethan Ross, a victim of racism, received a letter after his grandmother Sue contacted the Manchester City star.

The 13-year-old plays for the Newport County under-14 club as a goalkeeper and Sterling met the young player when City returned to Rodney Parade for his fifth round match with the Cup FA with Newport, that they won 4-1.

Paul Hirst of The Times reports that the City star gave Ethan a signed t-shirt and spent more time with him giving advice.

The newspaper had informed the Manchester club that Ross was planning to attend the match with his mother, Vicki, and they had arranged for him to meet Sterling after the final whistle.

The winger of England then tweeted Monday: "It was probably as comforting for me as meeting you finally, Ethan. Again, always be proud of who you are and never be silent. #SpeakUp #youthsarethefuture "

Sterling first sent a letter, accompanied by a signed photo, to the teenager after being contacted about the racist violence that he had suffered.

The letter said, "Dear Ethan,

"Nanna Sue, your sweetheart, recently told me about the tough period you're going through in terms of racial violence.

"Do not forget to stand up and be proud of who you are and not let them deprive you of your courage.You are strong and very brave, and your Nanna is also very proud of you Continue to be your kid.
