The measles outbreak reached 23 confirmed cases at Clark Co .; PDX again an exhibition site | New

CLARK COUNTY, WA (KPTV) – Portland International Airport was identified as the second exposure site during the measles outbreak in Clark County.

In Clark County, the Ministry of Public Health on Tuesday provided an update identifying 23 confirmed cases of measles and two other suspected cases.

Confirmed cases involve 18 children aged 10 and under, four children aged 11 to 18, and one adult aged 19 to 29.

Twenty of the cases involve people who have not been immunized. The other three cases have unverified immunization status.

Health authorities on Tuesday identified four new potential exposure sites, including PDX. The airport was exposed for the first time between 10:45 and 15:45. January 7, especially near Hall D and Delta Sky Lounge during this period.

The last exhibition at the airport took place on January 15th.

These are the latest sites:

• Kaiser Cascade Park Medical Office, 12607 S.E. Mill Plain Blvd., Vancouver from 12:30 pm to 7:30 pm Saturday, January 19th.

• Dollar Tree, 7809-B Vancouver Plaza Drive, Vancouver from 6:30 pm to 9:10 pm. Tuesday, January 15th.

• Portland International Airport, baggage claim and south end of ATM (near Alaska Airlines and Starbucks), 7,000 N.E. Airport Way, Portland from 7:30 pm to 11 pm Tuesday, Jan. 15.

• Costco, 4849 N.E. 138th Avenue, Portland from 5:30 pm to 8:40 pm Wednesday, January 16th.

The Clark County Public Health Department requires that students and staff without documented immunity against measles be excluded only from schools identified as potential exposure sites. Pupils and staff excluded from these identified schools are also excluded from other schools, daycares and other gathering places. The exclusions do not affect students and school staff where exposure to measles has not occurred.

In Clark County, the Ministry of Public Health urges all people who have been exposed to an identified location and who think they have measles symptoms to call their health care provider before going to the doctor's office. to develop a plan that avoids exposing other people in the waiting room.
