He added that the governments of Ghana and South Africa have reached an agreement that South Africa will help Ghana to carry out its transformation agenda.
The technical agreement provides that South Africa will provide technical support to Ghana to develop the country's rail network and existing rail infrastructure.
As part of this transformation, the government of the agenda has developed a plan for the construction of a modern rail network from south to north of Ghana, with badociated infrastructure.
The government's master plan for the rail sector calls for the construction of a new railway network of about 407 kilometers across the country.
The Accra-Tema railway line has been closed for almost two years to allow maintenance and repair work after a minor accident.
The stimulus is expected to ease commuters located mainly in Accra, Odowna, Achimota, Bastoona, Asoprochona and Tema, who are mainly traders.
According to Ghartey, the relaunch of the Accra-Tema railway line is one of many interventions designed to transform the sector.
He said work is underway on the east and west railway lines.
THE NEW ACCRA-TEMA RAIL EXPERIENCE
As part of the measures to attract old and new customers, the Ghana Railway Company offers two free weeks on the route.
Commuters from Accra, Odowna, Achimota, Bastoona, Asaprochona and Tema can do free walks between 6am and 7:30 am, from the Tema community to the city. 39, Accra, between 5:40 pm and 7:22 pm.
The newly renovated coaches are spacious enough to accommodate 600 pbadengers at any time.

The Tema – Accra rail service has been suspended for more than a year as a result of a minor accident on the stretch.

Even though the service has been reopened, not much has changed.
According to Railways Development Minister Ghartey, much progress has been made in dealing with encroachers, although much remains to be done to fight the threat permanently.
